Welcome to Year 6
The Year 6 Team:
6D - Mrs Davies, Mr. Walsh and Miss Jones
6F – Miss Fahy and Miss Bilsborough
We are delighted with the way our Year 6 children settled into their final year at Corinthian. As the oldest children in the school, it is impressive to see just how well they are modelling good behaviour and promoting our school values.
Below is some information that will be useful over the next few weeks. We will keep you updated via the app if there are any changes, so please make sure you have access to this.
Reading
Reading is crucial and we want our children to learn to love a whole range of books. Ideally, please ensure you read with your child every day and make a note of this in their reading record. We know some evenings can be busy, and understand there may be occasions when reading might not happen. If your child reads alone, please note this in their record. We love talking about books and want to share recommendations with the classes. Books must be brought in every day as we will have opportunities throughout the week to read and discuss them with your child. Every Friday, we will change any books that have been read ready to be given back out again on Monday.
TT Rockstars
Rapid recall of times tables and all associated facts is key in Year 6. Your child should, by now, know their times tables up to 12 x 12 (and the related division facts) fluently and be able to recall them quickly. Please ensure your child regularly access TT Rock Stars as this is part of their homework. If they do not know their log in details, please get in touch.
P.E.
P.E. will take place on Thursday afternoons (6D) and Friday afternoons (6F). Your child should come into school in the correct P.E. kit for their session. Your child’s school P.E. kit should be UNBRANDED and as follows:
- plain white t-shirt
- plain black or navy shorts of an appropriate length
- OR plain black or navy joggers
- OR plain black leggings (no gym wear, please)
- plain black or navy sweatshirt or zip jacket (no hoods or hoodies)
- plain black trainers or pumps
