Domestic Abuse Support

Domestic Abuse: Support and Awareness

At our school, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our entire community. We understand that domestic abuse can have a devastating impact on children’s lives and their ability to learn. We are here to provide a safe space and connect families with the support they deserve.

What is Domestic Abuse?

Domestic abuse is more than just physical violence. The UK government defines it as any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence, or abuse.

This applies to those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality. This abuse can take many forms, including:

  • Psychological & Emotional: Including manipulation, isolation, or constant criticism.

  • Physical: Any form of physical harm or threats of harm.

  • Sexual: Any non-consensual sexual activity or pressure.

  • Economic & Financial: Controlling a partner's money or ability to work/study.

  • Coercive Control: A pattern of behaviour used to harm, punish, or frighten a victim.

Our Role as a School

We recognise that children living in a home where domestic abuse occurs are victims themselves. Our staff are trained to support students living in these environments with sensitivity and confidentiality.

Important Note: If you or your children are in immediate danger, please always call 999.
