PSHCE
At Corinthian Community Primary School, our PSHCE curriculum (Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Economic Education) plays a vital role in helping our pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead confident, healthy, and responsible lives.
Our curriculum is designed to support children’s personal growth, wellbeing, and understanding of the wider world. It includes focused PSHCE and RHE lessons, awareness days, diversity-focused sessions (using the No Outsiders curriculum), and clear links to safeguarding. Throughout all lessons, pupils learn about and reflect on the British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance — and how these are demonstrated in daily school life and within our community.
Relationships and Health Education (RHE) / Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
In line with government guidance, Relationships and Health Education is fully integrated into our PSHCE scheme of work. These lessons, highlighted in yellow on our scheme overview, cover the statutory objectives set out in the national curriculum.
Some lessons are based on the Christopher Winter Project scheme of work, though all have been adapted to meet the specific needs of our pupils and community.
Additional Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) resources are also planned to ensure pupils receive age-appropriate and sensitive guidance as they grow. Parents and carers retain the right to withdraw their child from any lessons classed specifically as Sex Education.
All lessons are delivered in line with our Relationships and Sex Education Policy, which can be found under the School Policies tab.
Working in Partnership
We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are key to supporting our pupils’ development. This section of our website provides further information for parents and carers about how PSHCE is taught at [School Name].
We are committed to working closely with families to ensure our curriculum meets the needs of our children and reflects the diverse community we serve.
