British Values
Building Our Community: British Values at Corinthian Primary
At Corinthian Primary, we are proud of our diverse community and the shared values that bring us together. We believe that preparing our students for life in modern Britain means more than just academic success—it means helping them grow into kind, respectful, and active citizens.
We promote "Fundamental British Values" through our curriculum, our assemblies, and our daily interactions. These four key pillars help us create an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.
Our Core Values
-
Democracy: * What it looks like: From electing our School Council to voting on class names or playground rules, we teach our students that their voice matters. We encourage debate and show students how they can influence decision-making in a fair and peaceful way.
-
The Rule of Law: * What it looks like: We help students understand that rules and laws are there to keep us safe. By creating our own "Class Charters," students learn the importance of responsibility and the consequences of their actions.
-
Individual Liberty: * What it looks like: We empower our students to make informed choices in a safe, supportive environment. Whether it's choosing an extra-curricular club or expressing their own opinions, we celebrate the right to be an individual.
-
Mutual Respect & Tolerance: * What it looks like: Our school is a place where people of all faiths, backgrounds, and abilities are celebrated. We challenge prejudice and spend time learning about different cultures and traditions to ensure that "respect" isn't just a word, but a way of life.
Beyond the Classroom
British Values are not taught as a standalone subject; they are woven into the fabric of our school. Whether we are discussing current events in PSHE, exploring different religions in RE, or playing fairly on the sports field, we are practising the values that make our society strong.
