Physical Education
Intent
We have implemented a model of specialised provision, with a team of dedicated PE coaches employed to oversee the delivery and assessment within our school. This means that lessons are planned and delivered to an extremely high quality, with these covering a range of sports that seek to encourage engagement and interest beyond school.
We aim to expose children to a range of sporting activities through their PE lessons, sports days and after school clubs and activities to enhance children’s sporting experiences.
Implementation
Weekly discrete PE lessons cover a range of sporting themes:
Team games, dance, gymnastics, athletics, tennis and cricket, competitive games and swimming. These lessons are planned and delivered by a dedicated coach, alongside the PE curriculum lead.
For years 5 and 6, we have specialised bikeability lessons. In this provision, the children learn safety skills, road safety, and the importance of cycling. Through extra-curricular clubs delivered by sports coaches, including dodgeball and football, it is our hope that a stronger passion and opportunity into sport is created and will help promote pupil participation.
